Your Community Event checklist

Hosting community events is easy, but it can be daunting at first. This article provides a checklist for getting started based on the experience of other hosts.

This is our suggested checklist we also encourage you to join or Community Host Facebook Group

Date and Venue

  • What is the best community date for me?

  • Is the venue the right size for me?

  • Does it have a Premises Licence, including for film? (applies if you are making a profit or fundraising)

  • Will people at the back be able to see?

  • Does it have a reliable minimum 10Mbps Internet connection, or will I need to download films beforehand?

  • Can I do an audio-visual test?

  • Does the venue have Public Liability insurance?

Film Selection

  • Films are continuously added. On Jan 1st, you will be able to preview and create a shortlist.

  • Check your favourites and add them to the relevant screenings so the films appear on your listing.

  • Use our curated film selections for inspiration!

  • Request the film reel for your screenings so you can download it and avoid internet issues

The Big Day - At the Event

  • Consider extra fundraising - raffle?

  • Invite your own adventurous local hero to make an appearance.

  • Keep a spare film or two up your sleeve in case people don’t want to go home. It happens!

  • Share the fun on social media, tag us and #LondonMountainFilmFestival

ENJOY!
